On the 18th, The QS, a university ranking organization in the UK, announced the results of the “2019 World University Rankings.”
Our university ranked 454th in the world and 13th in South Korea.
The QS World University Rankings evaluate 4,848 universities in the world for △ academic reputation (40%), △ number of professors’ research papers cited (20%), △ student to professor ratio (20%), △ reputation among corporations (10%), △ percentage of foreign students (5%), and △ percentage of foreign faculty (5%). Based on the evaluation policy of the QS, which recognizes main and branch campuses together as a single campus, Dongguk University was evaluated on the sum of the indices of Seoul and Gyeongju campuses.
Our university plans to nurture majors to be in the top 100 global rankings, while actively doing domestic and overseas publicity. We will encourage the faculty to support the publication of outstanding papers in various ways, while reinforcing publicity, especially to attract more and diverse foreign students.
Meanwhile, the QS, which is a UK organization globally recognized as the highest authority in university rankings, has been evaluating universities across the world in cooperation with Chosun Ilbo since 2009. In the first place in the 2019 QS World University Rankings was MIT, in the second place was Stanford, and in the third place was Harvard University. Among domestic universities, Seoul National University was 37th, Korea University was 83rd, Sungkyunkwan University was 95th, our university and Sogang University tied at 454th, Inha University was in the range of 521th-530th, Konkuk University was in the range of 571th -580th, and University of Seoul was in the range of 651th -700th.
